As director of the annual Norcross Art Fest, FRANCES SCHUBE likes to feature high-quality artwork that's whimsical and affordable. To learn more about the event, which takes place every October, visit www.norcrossartfest.com. Schube answers Julep's Four Questions:

1. What book, movie, TV show or other medium are you dying to share and why?

I would love to share a small, special book On Wooden Wheels - The Memoir of Carla Nathans Schipper. This little treasure is the true story of a Dutch woman who survived the Holocaust by hiding herself and children from the Nazis. When she finally left Europe and moved to America, she remarried and had another child, a son with Down syndrome, whom she refused to hide, as was the custom of the time. This is a very touching account by Stacey Goldring of the strength and courage one mother had to endure during desperate times.

2. If you could have lunch with one biblical or historical Jewish figure, who would it be and why?

Although Anne Frank was just a teenager when she wrote her diary, I would have truly enjoyed meeting her. She was definitely wise beyond her years, and my 19-year-old son, Ryan, truly believes that if Anne Frank had survived, she would have won a Pulitzer Prize for her writings and deep insight.

3. What is your favorite Jewish food?

My grandmother Rose Haber was an outstanding cook and made the best chicken soup! My mother, thankfully, has inherited the cooking gene, and when I come home to Jacksonville, Fla., a hot bowl is always waiting for me. Unfortunately, I do not have that gene, but I sure enjoy this traditional comfort food.

4. Nu? (So?)

When my husband, Michael, and I chaired the Atlanta Jewish Festival in 2002 and 2003, I never dreamed it would lead me to run the Norcross Art Fest in historic downtown Norcross. I reinvented this show five years ago to bring art and music to that charming and magical town. The festival is filled with more than 100 talented artisans from all over the United States, and the colorful and whimsical works line the streets on the first weekend of October every fall. It's like a small Piedmont Park Art Show in the northern suburbs. I hope next year everyone has a chance to come explore the fun and festivities!
