Miracle Maker
.
Jay Feigenbaum's motto for his swimwear company, Miraclesuit, for which he has served as president for the past 12 years, is "Look 10 Pounds Lighter in 10 Seconds."
The company manufactures and wholesales women's swimwear that offers "all-over body control and shaping." According to Feigenbaum, who hails from Hamden, Conn., "Floral prints, in shades of blue and green, brown and taupe, and black with bright colors are some of our strongest sellers from this past resort season."
Feigenbaum answers Julep's Four Questions.
1. What book, movie, television show or other medium are you dying to share and why?
I'm not sure if "dying" is the right word, but I thought State of Denial by Bob Woodward was an interesting book and worth reading. Besides the political insight, I think the book also gives insight into the management style of Don Rumsfeld. The reader can decide if that is good or bad.
2. If you could have brunch with one biblical or historical Jewish figure, who would it be and why?
Judah Maccabee. He personifies strength and leadership, and I love potato latkes!
3. What is your favorite Jewish food and why?
My favorite Jewish food would have to be the strudel my favorite aunt, Genia Arbes, used to make when I was a kid. I have searched for a better strudel and never found one.
4. Nu (so)?
Growing up in Chattanooga, Tenn., as a child of parents that survived the Holocaust, my childhood was a bit unusual. My sister, Sonia Feigenbaum Kay, my first cousin, Jake Arbes, and certainly my parents, Abe and Esther Feigenbaum, were strong influences on me, then and now. My adult life has been defined by two major factors: My own family - my wife, Barbara, and our children, Eric and Rebecca, continue to be a source of strength, love and inspiration for me. I am so proud to be part of the same family as these three people. My career in the swimwear business has also been a wonderful "ride" which I still enjoy every day. Lucky me on both accounts.
